Our Story

Our hockey paths have come back to where it all started. We’ve been inspired by all those who helped us along the way and now it’s our time to raise a new generation of elite hockey athletes, on home ice.

Along with training and skills development, our mission is to inspire young players, instill a strong work ethic, and teach the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork.

Swift Hockey Co. founder, Travis Moen

Travis Moen

Owner & Co-Founder

  • Travis grew up in Stewart Valley, Saskatchewan on the family farm. He always had a passion for hockey and hit the ice when he was just 3 years old. His hard work ethic was taught by his parents who had him helping every day with their cattle and grain farm.

Travis was a local product of the southwest, playing his minor hockey here in Swift Current, then moving on to join the Kelowna Rockets at 17. He was drafted by the Calgary Flames and ended up signing with the Chicago Blackhawks. After Moen’s 3 years with the Blackhawks organization, he joined the Anaheim Ducks. Travis played 4 years with the Ducks helping them win a Stanley Cup. He continued his career with the San Jose Sharks then to the Montréal Canadiens for 6 years. The final 2 years of his career were spent with the Dallas Stars.

Travis, his wife Amy, and 2 kids moved back to Swift Current in 2016 and he continued his love of hockey by helping with his son’s teams. Travis wanted to start this hockey business to share his hockey knowledge and experience with kids like himself who are growing up and playing hockey in the Southwest. He’s always looked up to the men and women who helped him on his hockey journey and hopes he can give back in that way also.

If you’ve ever talked with Trav he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever run into around the rink. He has endless energy and patience working with kids and older athletes and we are definitely lucky to have him in our hockey community.

Swift Hockey Co. founder, Regan Darby

Regan Darby

Owner & Co-Founder

  • Regan moved to Swift Current at the age of 14 to play AA Bantam and then moving onto the Swift Current Legionnaires. At the age of 17 he started his WHL career and was then drafted 90th overall in the 1998 NHL draft to the Vancouver Canucks. Regan went on to play his Pro career throughout North America and then Europe. He played in 5 different leagues including the WHL, IHL, AHL, ECHL, and EIHL.

Regan was known for his physical style and strong skating abilities. Regan’s off-ice conditioning was always the main focus and he spent summers training with elite-level athletes in Vancouver. This is where his passion for development and fitness grew. Regan also received training on stride analysis and development with the Hockey Performance Centre in North Vancouver. Regan spent time providing hockey specific off-ice training to players from Junior to NHL.

Regan now enjoys volunteering his time coaching his kids’ teams and has a passion for on-ice skill development with all levels of athletes.

Regan saw a gap in the Southwest area for athletes being able to stay home and train instead of having to travel to bigger centres. He also saw a need to keep junior kids training local, as a way to inspire young kids. Regan always valued the experience of being able to skate with pro players when he was younger and hopes to create an opportunity for more kids to stay at home and be able to train and develop locally.

Regan’s experiences and passion for player development make him a valuable asset to the hockey community and part of the Swift Hockey Co team.
